Every year I sponsor and co-sponsor legislation that I believe will benefit my constituents and the state as a whole. Below please find information on what I am sponsoring and let me know what you think. If you have any questions please contact the office.
- An Act establishing a temporary workers right to know: Requires temporary agencies to provide information to their employees as to the company they are working at and any issues around health and safety conditions of the site.
- An Act to preserve and protect the Integrity of the state pension system: In an effort to preserve the pension system for current and future retirees, this bill mandates reforms that are consistent with the slogan “you get out what you put in”.
- An Act relative to retiree life insurance: Allows retirees in cities and towns, to have life insurance until they are 85 rather than 75. Currently, state employees have no age limit on how long they can have life insurance. They pay the entire premium themselves so there is no cost impact.
- An Act to establish a Massachusetts food policy council: Establishes and regulates a Massachusetts food policy council within the department of agricultural resources, for the purpose of enhancing the agricultural economy of the commonwealth and expanding the availability of fresh, healthy and locally produced foods.
- An Act to create an annual city year day: Filed to increase exposure of the City Year program.
- An Act to promote green jobs training programs in Greater Boston: this will redefine gateway communities to include Boston, Chelsea, Quincy and Somerville.
- An Act relative to savings bank life insurance: This bill recognizes the life expectancy differences between men and women.
- An Act defining regular interest for retirement systems: Filed to clarify the interest to be paid out for withdrawals from the state retirement system, you get out what you put in.
- An Act establishing a green building income and excise tax credit: The bill will promote better energy and environmental practices for building design, construction and maintenance, and increase demand for new, clean technologies and environmentally preferable building products and services. The bill will also reduce water and energy consumption and landfill demand, thus addressing a host of environmental problems including ozone depletion, acid rain, toxins, and climate change. Finally, this bill will create industry and public awareness of resource management that will improve the quality of life for building occupants in a sustainable and profitable way.
- An Act relative to the pooling of tips: This bill more precisely defines the relationship between managers and wait staff in regard to tip pooling.
- An Act relative to creating low profit limited liability companies: This bill creates a new business designation in the Commonwealth that will give businesses that perform a social good greater access to financing.
