Support Temp Workers Right to Know

Oct

29

Yesterday, October 29, The Joint Committee on Labor and Work Force Development heard a very important bill that I proudly sponsored: House Bill 1797 A Temporary Worker’s Right to Know. Under current law, temporary agencies are not subject to regulatory oversight and, as a result, temporary workers are often not told pertinent information about the nature, location, and conditions of their jobs.  This bill will rectify this and ensure the basic rights of our temporary workers.  I have heard many heart wrenching stories of the deplorable conditions and treatment our temporary workers are subject to, and it is time that something is done about it.  Many of my colleagues also testified in support of the bill as well as workers who shared their experiences first hand.   I am very hopeful that this bill is a solid solution to protecting our temporary workforce.
