Help for Small Business Owners From the City

This is a new initiative that Mayor Menino started and it’s already driving down costs for small businesses. I would highly recommend that every small business owner check this out.

Mayor Menino, in an effort to respond to the issue of the increasing cost of energy and its adverse effect on Boston’s business and nonprofit sectors has created a new citywide initiative, Boston Buying Power, which assists  Boston’s businesses and nonprofit sectors in the procurement of electricity and natural gas through the creation of a City-wide energy-buying group.

It is the desire of the City of Boston to provide an opportunity for Boston’s businesses to have much more control over their utility bills and to obtain some certainty about their energy costs.

  • Boston Buying Power will combine the purchasing power of thousands of commercial and industrial customers across the greater Boston area, giving businesses a host of incredible benefits, including low pricing, and long-term rate stability.
  • Since the program began a year ago, more than 1000 businesses across Boston have joined the program and have saved over $1.6  million dollars on their energy costs.

Any questions regarding the program, please give me a call at the Office of Business Development or call 857-241-6900 and a Boston Buying Power representative can answer any question you might have.  Please also look at the website at www.bostonbuyingpower.com.
