The Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Business will hold its third listening stop on October 5 at the Rectrix Aerodrome, Barnstable Airport (730 Barnstable Road) in Hyannis from 4 PM-5:30 PM.

“These tours are one of the ways that we are trying to connect businesses across the Commonwealth with Beacon Hill,” said Representative Linda Dorcena Forry (D-Dorchester, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Milton), co-chair of the committee. “We are able to inform the business community of government programs that are available but perhaps not publicized enough.  We also are able to learn from the business community what we in State government can do to help them thrive in this difficult economy.”

Earlier in the afternoon, committee members and Cape Cod elected officials will tour Hydroid, Inc, which manufactures underwater vehicle systems, in Poccasset and will also meet with the owners of the Daniel Webster Inn in Sandwich Village.  The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce is hosting the public roundtable discussion, which will begin at 4 PM.

“We’re encouraging both small business leaders and owners to tell us how the state can better work for them,” said Senator Michael Moore (D-Worcester), co-chair of the committee. “This is a chance for small business owners to tell us what we’re doing well and what we could do better.”
