Know of a child care or education facility in need of repairs? Children’s Investment Fund has a limited pool of funding available and is accepting applications from non-profit early care and education or out-of-school time programs in Boston in need of emergency facility repairs. See below for qualifications and how to apply. As always, don’t hesitate to contact my office with any questions.
Emergency Capital Grant Program
Funding Priorities:
Priority One
- Building emergencies (e.g. roof leak, loss of heat, building code violations)
- Repairs or renovations to meet licensing regulations or address health or safety concerns.
Priority Two
- Program consolidation to help keep your program financially viable (e.g. combining classrooms or closing an under-enrolled site).
- Energy efficient renovations to reduce operating costs and improve the health of children and adults in the program.
- Facility improvements to meet accreditation standards.
Details: Funding is for Boston providers only. Applications will be reviewed on a continual basis. We expect that grants will range from $5,000-$50,000.
Eligibility: Your program must meet all the following criteria:
- Be a nonprofit organization located in Boston;
- Operate a licensed, center-based ECE program or a licensed OST program in a community setting;
- Serve a minimum of 50% low-income children, as defined by the Department of Early Education and Care income eligibility guidelines;
- Offer care on a full-day, full-year basis (ECE programs), or provide services during the school year or year-round (OST programs);
- Demonstrate that your organization has the financial and organizational resources to continue to serve children and families.
Please note that Children’s Investment Fund grants cannot be used for public schools or other municipal sites.
