EVENTS FOR THE FAMILY: 16th Annual Neponset River Greenway Festival

Come out and explore the historic Neponset River during the 16th Annual Neponset River Greenway Festival.  The Boston Natural Areas Network (BNAN) is hosting a series of “Canoe the River” events which are designed to be fun and enriching for children and adults alike.  All events are FREE but space is limited and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, so contact BNAN (617-542-7696) asap if you’re interested!

Evening Lower Mills Paddle, Milton Landing (Wharf Street, Milton), Friday, August 6th - 5:30PM

Paddle boats will launch from Milton Landing for an early evening jaunt up to the falls at the old Baker Chocolate mills and out into the salt marshes.  While some paddling experience is required, this event is open to children.  All children under 12 must be accompanied by one responsible adult, and children ages 8-11 will only be allowed to participate if they have previous paddling experience.  NOTE: beginner paddlers are welcome to register for the August 15th event at Mill Pond (see below)!

More Basics for Beginners, Mother Brook Mill Pond (Knight Street, Hyde Park), Sunday, August 15th – 1:00PM & 2:00PM

Curious about canoeing? The Mother Brook Mill Pond is a perfect spot to learn!  If you missed the beginners program at the start of the summer, here’s another chance to learn before the Greenway Festival ends! Participants will have the opportunity to practice basic paddling skills around Hyde Park’s Mill Pond.  Canoes and life jackets will be provided.  This event is for beginners only please!

For safety reasons, no children under 5 will be allowed at either event.
